1. I can't hear music, I click on
the link and nothing happens. Why?
WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER NOT INSTALLED
We understand that there are many players and most are proprietary. WarpRadio
utilizes the Windows Media Player and therefore does not support RealNetworks
content. The Windows Media Player is different; It supports streaming
audio as well as many other formats like MP3, MIDI, .wav, etc. files,
so once you have this player, you can listen to many other audio sites
and songs.
GET THE PLAYER
Go to the web-site: http://www.windowsmedia.com/download
Scroll down to the center of the page where you'll see: Get the Windows
Media Player Click on the blue button, Download Now. Select Save this
program to disk. Save the file to a place on your hard drive that you
can easily remember (i.e. your desktop). This takes approx. 15-20 min
on a 28.8 kbps connection. Once the download is complete, go to the file
wherever you saved it (you can always use your "find" feature to locate
the file: mp71.exe.) Then double-click on that file to have it fully installed.
Select Typical as a default and let the installation select the defaults
for the rest of the choices.
CHECK VOLUME SETTINGS
Most likely you will have a speaker icon in the lower right hand corner
of your desktop (in the taskbar). Double click on this icon. This will
bring up a control panel for your soundcard. In the Volume Control channel,
there will be two sliders. The top slider controls balance between your
speakers (left side, right side) and the lower slider adjusts volume.
Make sure the lower slider is UP and not towards the bottom. You can also
access the Volume control panel this way: Click Start > Settings > Control
Panel > Sounds & Multimedia Double click on the Audio tab Under Sound
Playback / Preferred Device, your soundcard will be listed. Click on Volume
Adjust sliders appropriately
CHECK SPEAKERS
Make sure the actual volume knob on your speakers is turned up.

2. I can't find my station's stream.
Why?
We list the most complete Internet directory of the United States. This
listing includes all stations with or without an Internet presence or
streaming broadcast. Therefore, you may have searched for a station(s),
which is not streaming yet. Please try out our Featured
page to see some samples of streaming stations across the country.

3. The player launches but nothing
will play. Why?
CONTENT WON'T PLAY
Our apologies for your frustration, however there are a variety of factors
that may cause this type of problem. The most likely problem is network
congestion; this occurs mainly during high traffic hours (8am-6pm), or
within college or university backbones, and simply means you cannot get
through. This congestion could be anywhere between you and WarpRadio.
We apologize for your inconvenience and suggest to keep trying or to try
again during low traffic hours. Also, there may be temporary server problems
due to maintenance. Again, keep trying. In some cases, content and URL
locations may be temporarily misdirected. If you continue to have problems
with a particular URL, please Contact
Us and we will remedy the situation as quickly as possible.
OUTDATED MEDIA PLAYER VERSION
Get the newest version. Go to the web-site: http://www.windowsmedia.com/download
Scroll down to the center of the page where you'll see: Get the Windows
Media Player Click on the blue button, Download Now. Select Save this
program to disk. Save the file to a place on your hard drive that you
can easily remember (i.e. your desktop). This takes approx. 15-20 min
on a 28.8 kbps connection. Once the download is complete, go to the file
wherever you saved it (you can always use your "find" feature to locate
the file: mpie4ful.exe.) Then double-click on that file to have it fully
installed. Select Typical as a default and let the installation select
the defaults for the rest of the choices.
Note: WarpRadio strongly recommends the use of Internet
Explorer versions 4 and higher, along with the most current Windows Media
Player for your operating system, in order to properly use the site.

4. An error message comes up saying
to check the path. Why?
Our apologies for your frustration, however there are a variety of factors
that may cause this error. The most common is that the stream is temporarily
down or there is network congestion somewhere between the radio station,
WarpRadio and you. We apologize for your inconvenience and suggest to
keep trying or to try again during low traffic hours.

5. The content is buffering a lot.
Why?
The buffering occurs when you cannot get enough data from your bandwidth.
It may be network congestion or the original encoded stream has been made
at a higher bandwidth then you can download. Most audio streams are at
20kbps, and if you are on a 28.8 modem, you may not be getting a 28.8kbps
download, but more likely a 12-15kbps (this is dependent on your Internet
Service Provider).
Here is a helpful tip:
This will help out but sometimes not completely correct all buffering
problems. First, determine the version number of the media player you
are using (from the Media Player, go to help>about)
Windows Media Player 6.4
Go to - View. Select Settings > Windows Media Source Filter.
On this new window, you will see a Buffering section, select the radio
button for Buffer and increase the number of seconds to 30.
Click Okay.
Windows Media Player v7.01 or better
Go to - Tools > Options > Performance Tab Under Network Buffering
Select the button for Buffer, and increase the number of seconds to 30.
Click Apply > Okay.

6. It sounds like there is static,
fading in and out, OR poor quality. Why?
WarpRadio takes the encoded stream from the radio station and broadcasts
it to the world. The radio station is responsible for the quality of the
stream that we connect to. When there are sound quality issues, it is
most likely that the station is encoding from a reception of their signal
rather then a direct feed from their soundboard. Many stations are learning
and developing their streaming solution. Please keep listening and let
us know if they have improved. WarpRadio monitors and corresponds with
each station on regular basis. We can work out a better solution.

7. Does this work for Linux?
There are compatible players for Linux. However, WarpRadio does not offer
them for download nor will we support the use of them. Thanks to a listener,
there is a site that offers a variety of crossover plugins for Linux users.
www.codeweavers.com There is
a fee associated with these plugins, however they do work according to
the listener. Again, WarpRadio does not offer support for the use of Linux
players and plugins.

8b. How do I install Windows Media Player for Mac?
Note: Microsoft recommends that you download and install Internet Explorer
5.x to access Windows Media Player (WMP) content.
To download and install the player, you first need to remove any older
version of WMP on your system:
Drag the Microsoft Media Player folder to the Trash.
In the Preferences folder, delete the Microsoft Media Player Prefs file.
In the Extensions folder, delete the following files to the trash:
Acelp.net Decoder 05.0 kbps
Acelp.net Decoder 06.5 kbps
Acelp.net Decoder 08.5 kbps
Acelp.net Decoder 16.0 kbps
Mpeg Layer - 3 Audio
MPG4
VivoActive G723 Decoder
Voxware Sound Component v1.5
Empty the Trash.
Reboot your computer.
Note: The QuickTime PowerPlug extension must be enabled for the Windows
Media Player to install. If the install fails without an error, verify
that QuickTime PowerPlug is in the "Extensions" folder and enabled.
Installing Windows Media Player
Go to the download site.
Select Player 7.1 for Macintosh from the pull-down menu.
Click the Download Now button.
The WMP for the Macintosh will download to the download location specified
by your browser. The default location is the desktop. You may need to
use StuffIt Expander to decompress the WMP for Macintosh. You can get
StuffIt Expander from Aladdin Systems http://www.aladdinsys.com.
Double-click the installer icon and follow the instructions.
9. Can I use my Windows Media Player
with Netscape?
The best thing to do is re-install the newest version of Windows Media
Player. A certain plug-in is necessary in order to use Windows Media Player
with Netscape; this plug-in will automatically install itself because
your computer should detect that Netscape Navigator is on your computer.
Remember to refresh your website if you choose to leave it open during
the re-install process.
Note: WarpRadio strongly recommends the use of Internet
Explorer versions 4 and higher, along with the most current Windows Media
Player for your operating system, in order to properly use the site.

10. I use AOL, and I am experiencing
problems. Is there a way around this?
The best results can be achieved by adjusting the buffer
settings, and then using the standalone Internet Explorer, rather than
the AOL-centric browser.
What? Really. Just minimize your AOL window (you won't loose your connection!)
Go to - Start > Programs > Internet Explorer, and click on it.
Then, just type or paste www.warpradio.com in the address bar.

11. An error message
comes up saying invalid data.
This error comes up mostly when using either an old file or a file with bad data. For example,
if you have a saved or bookmarked file, such as one ending in asx, you will get this error.
Just remove the old link and visit the station's website or search for them via warpradio.com to
listen.

12. Ever since installing Windows Media Player 9 Series I get a Class
not Registered error.
Unfortunately, we do not have a fix for this error yet. It seems to occur in Windows 98 and Windows ME for people
using Windows Media Player 7 and Windows Media Player 9 Series.
The fix for Windows Media Player 7 was just to uninstall the player, removing all components, then reinstalling it,
while making sure EVERY program is closed during the installation.

13. I get a dialog box that comes
up asking me if i want to download or open tuner.asf (or popTuner.asf
or stream.asf). When i open it the stream never plays.
Most likely this error occurs because you've recently installed WinAmp.
You will want to go to the preferences section on WinAmp and then either
Select NONE to disable WinAmp as the default player for Windows Media
files, or deselect asf and asx (if applicable).
